《英语阅读II》是外国语学院英语系英语本科专业一年级开设的一门专业核心课程。
阅读课的特征体现在"广"与"读"两个方面。阅读课所选的语言材料的主题广泛,内容呈百科知识性,涵盖社会、文化、教育、科技、经贸、历史、文学、艺术、政治、环境保护等各个领域。语言材料的文体呈多样性,有说明文、议论文、新闻等语言风格不同的各类文章。通过广泛阅读,学生可了解西方国家的社会文化,理解中西方之间的文化差异,从而培养其跨文化交际能力。就"读"而言,通过本课程学习,学生可掌握科学的泛读训练方法,提高阅读能力;同时进一步掌握词汇、句法、篇章等方面的知识。另外,阅读材料可作为思辨材料,通过课堂活动,可培养学生的批判性思维 ,助其树立正确的价值观、爱国情怀和道德情操。
